Village shows in Cockerham and Grimsargh will showcase the best of residents’ gardens, kitchens and workrooms in their respective community halls this Saturday, August 8.

Doors open to the public for Grimsargh Flower, Produce and Handicraft Show at the village hall on Preston Road at 2pm, as they do for the Cockerham Village Show at the village hall on Main Street.

At Grimsargh, new classes year include a three tiered plant pot arrangement or an unusual shaped fruit or vegetable and photography classes are for animals, village life, seascapes and architectural studies. For the 12-16 age bracket a decorated t-shirt should prove interesting and as usual there will be refreshments, including delicious homemade cakes.

Last year’s Cockerham Show saw entries well up on previous years and organisers are hoping the momentum will continue. Admission is £1 and refreshments will be available.

There will be craft, art, photographs, flowers, floral art, vegetables, cookery and new ‘Showstopper’ class. Garstang’s Pat Ascroft is show president and will be putting on a display of her adventures around the world.
