Car crashes into ditch during police chase

A motorist tried to get away from police when officers tried to pull him over earlier this morning.

But they had an unsuccessful getaway after crashing their silver BMW down an embankment in Ribbleton.

Lancashire's Road Policing Unit tweeted this picture shortly before 2am and said: "Driver of this car was prepared to drive into a ravine in Ribbleton rather than stop for #ST33.

"Not worth it just for no documents! #T2RPU"

It was not immediately known whether the driver was arrested.
