Mosaic Community Care Limited, which provides home care for elderly and disabled people across the Fylde coast and in Preston, received an overall ‘requires improvement’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after an inspection which took place on March 4.

The CQC report read that, although the company manager followed safe recruitment practices and staff were trained well, information about health risks and how to manage them was not always available to staff in people’s homes.

It added: “People were not always supported by the correct number of staff, which meant that their needs and risks were not being managed appropriately.

“Medicines information was not clear and medicines records were not always completed appropriately by staff.”

The report added that the service was ‘not always’ effective, caring, responsive, or well-led.

However the report did say people’s needs were reviewed regularly and staff understood the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and where people lacked the capacity to make decisions about their care, their relatives were consulted.

It also says staff treated people with care and compassion and respected people’s privacy and dignity and encouraged them to be independent.

Mosaic, based in Ashton, was approached for a comment but did not provide one by deadline.
