Paul Hope, of Clovelley Avenue, Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, was jailed for 18 months after a judge was told he was already subject to a restraining order after being violent to her.
The woman feared she would be killed as her agitated son searched her home, and is considering moving to get away from him and not to live in fear of him, Preston Crown Court was told.

Hope had previously been to prison but on his release had started turning up at her home.
A prosecutor said: " She often forgets to lock the front door and he simply opens the door. She is scared of the defendant.
"On March 26, at around 5pm, the woman had been watching TV and the defendant walked in through her door again.
"He sat down on the sofa and began to ask her for £20.

At one point the frightened woman had tried to leave her home, but Hope walked around and said: " Where do you think you're f***ing going, I want your money now.
"It looks like you haven't learned from the last time."
She even rang his grandmother to ask to borrow money as he continued his tirade.
A neighbour overheard part of the conversation and shortly after that police were contacted.
