More details have emerged after four people were arrested following a dramatic police chase along Broadfield Drive in Leyland last night (July 7).

Police flooded the road after a Vauxhall Corsa was chased along Broadfield Drive from Tesco to the Spar store near Golden Hill Lane at around 5.40pm.

The Corsa was eventually forced to a stop after it was boxed in by tactical ops officers behind the wheels of two unmarked BMW's.

Lancashire Police has now confirmed what happened prior to the arrests and what went down in Broadfield Drive.

This is the full police statement

A police spokesman said: "At 3.50pm yesterday (July 7) we were made aware of an ongoing disturbance in Spring Gardens, Leyland, during which there was a report that a knife had been seen.

"When officers arrived the parties involved had already left the area in a silver Vauxhall Corsa.

"The vehicle was quickly located in nearby Broadfield Drive.

"The four occupants - three males, aged 32, 17 and 16, and a 31-year-old woman – remain under arrest on suspicion of affray.

"The 32-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of drugs and driving whilst disqualified.

"The Vauxhall has been seized after the driver was found to have no insurance.

"No-one was injured during this incident and all parties are known to each other.

"Reassurance patrols will be stepped up in the area.

"Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting log 0857 of July 7, 2020.

"Alternatively, you can call independent charity Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555111."

It added that all four people are still under arrest.

Residents watched as drama unfolded in Broadfield Drive

Residents watched the drama unfold as the two unmarked police BMW's brought the Corsa to a tactical stop, boxing it in between the junctions of Edgehill Crescent and Bannister Drive.

The unmarked BMW's were quickly joined by a fleet of police cars and vans, with the dog unit also mobilised.

Around a dozen police vehicles responded to the incident and the road was blocked off at the junction with Golden Hill Lane for nearly an hour.
