DO you recognise this bit of old carpet?
An appeal has gone out to anyone in the area who may have had new carpet fitted recently to look carefully at this photograph of some old carpet fly-tipped on a quiet country lane.
It was part of a load of old pieces of carpet spotted by Forton resident John Spencer. He believes it was possibly dumped by a carpet-fitter trying to avoid the cost of disposing of it at a landfill site.
The carpet was spread out over a wide area at Hollins Lane, Forton, suggesting it may have been thrown from a moving van.
The dumping was reported to Wyre Borough Council Street Scene officers, who quickly removed the offending rubbish, but not before the distinctive carpet was photographed in an effort to trace where it came from.
If the carpet was yours and was removed by a carpet fitter recently, the borough council officers would like to hear from you ,so they can try to trace the fly-tippers with a view to possibly taking legal action.
Mr Spencer says he has noticed an increase in fly-tipping in the area in recent months but says this piece has such an unusual pattern that someone might recognise it.
l Anyone that does recognise the carpet here can contact Wyre Borough Council’s Street Scene officers on 01253 891000.
