Paula Manders had already been warned to keep away from the little boy by his grandmother who was carrying him in her arms in Blackpool.

Before committing the offence Manders had been able to buy a three-litre bottle of cider in the resort for just £3.99 which her defence lawyer, Allan Cobain, described as disgraceful.

Manders, 42, of Hillcrest Road, South Shore, pleaded guilty to assault.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said the offence took place on Saturday between 5.30pm and 6pm. Manders had first tried to put cider in the child’s mouth and then poured it over him.

Allan Cobain, defending, said after buying the three-litre bottle of cider, his client had very little recollection of the offence.
