More than 20 German students and two teachers were welcomed to St Aidan’s Church of England Technology College in Preesall.

Pupils and staff from the Christoph-Scheiner Grammar School in Ingolstadt enjoyed trips and taking part in lessons.

St Aidan’s students will make the return journey in July 2013. The 14 and 15-year-old year old students from both schools enjoyed a week of sharing their school and social lives, practising their language skills and learning about each other’s culture. They enjoyed trips to Lancaster castle and a day out at Manchester, where they visited Old Trafford the Stadium of Manchester United and introduced the German Guest to a bit of shopping ‘English Style’ in the Trafford Centre.

The German students spent a couple of days in Saint Aidan’s attending lessons and taking part in school life.

Student Maxi Weinzierl commented : “I liked the variety of the curriculum and the way it is taught.” The visitors thought the food technology lesson was a different experience for them, because this is not taught in their school. Mrs Bianca Burke, German exchange co-ordinator, said: “Exchange programmes really do enrich pupils’ learning of a foreign language.”
