CHILDREN, parents, staff and governors said a fond farewell to one of Garstang’s longest serving and most successful headteachers at the end of last term.

Headteacher at Garstang Community Primary Mr Michael McCusker was saying his farewells after 23 years at the school.

A special assembly was held with the children performing a variety of sketches, poems and songs in celebration of Mr McCusker’s time at the school.

While at Garstang Community Primary School, Mr McCusker’s excellent leadership enabled the school to enjoy a high degree of success, including three “outstanding” classifications after Ofsted inspections.

Mrs Stephanie Reeves, the new headteacher, took up her post last week.

Mrs Reeves, who was previously the headteacher at Thornton Primary School, Thornton-Cleveleys, says that she is extremely excited to be at the school and that she looks forward to building on its past achievements and working with all parts of the Garstang community.
