A charity car wash raised £340 for the Ribchester Field Day funds.

The event held recently at the entrance to the Bee Mill complex was well supported – both by volunteer car washers and members of the public bringing their vehicles in for a spring clean.

Field Day chairman David Smith said: “It’s the third year we’ve done a car wash and there was a steady stream of cars. Everyone seems happy to donate.”

He added that the Ribchester Field Day weekend could not be staged without the “serious support” of public donations and he thanked all for their generosity.

The field day committee also stressed thanks are due to local businesses, including Bee Mill owner Michael Bannister for allowing the car wash on mill premises, Bee Mill Garage, Fuelmizas, Lough-Scott haulage and the local Spar for providing hot water, use of equipment, cleaning materials and well earned cups of tea for volunteers.

* This year’s Field Day will be held on Saturday June 15, with the usual tea party on June 16 and evening events on Friday and Saturday June 14 and 15.

This year’s Field Day queen has now been chosen and she is Sophie Kearns.

The judges too, have been chosen and these are Jackie and Warwick Wright, Rachel Ayre and Pauline Tickell for the parade and Susan and David Wilkinson and Christine and Peter Kendrick for the marquee.
