The authority has set up an Affordable Home Ownership Interest List, which allows people to sign up and be the first to receive alerts when developers announce new housing projects which meet their needs.

Housing officers will then be on hand to speak to prospective buyers about schemes which are suitable for them, such as Shared Ownership and Starter Homes.

Councillor Cliff Hughes, said: “There are several Affordable Home Ownership schemes out there, but it can sometimes be a maze of information for people to navigate – this new initiative is a one-stop shop that takes away that hassle and makes it simple.

“We want to link property builders up with house hunters to help them get a foot on the

property ladder with a financial arrangement that won’t break the bank.”
