A fantastic range of fun days out in the Forest of Bowland is included in the new Festival Bowland events programme.
The Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Partnership has launched its festival guide for this year.
AONB partners have worked with landowners, local experts and businesses to provide a wealth of events and opportunities for people to explore the area’s distinctive qualities and to share with others what makes this area such a special place for people and wildlife.
Events include old favourites and new suggestions, from strenuous hikes over the fells to more moderate days discovering some of Bowland’s beautiful rivers, valleys and woodlands.
Fun children’s activities, the opportunity to learn new skills and the chance to look out for some of Bowland’s special wildlife will also be on offer over the coming months.
To mark Bowland Hay Time, the AONB’s partnership project with the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, there will be lots of events to help people discover and enjoy one of the area’s rarest habitats – upland hay meadows.
These species-rich, traditionally managed meadows are a riot of colour in the summer months and are an important part of Bowland’s farming heritage.
