The scorching summer sun shone brightly for the annual Forton Field Day.
A procession kicked off the day on Saturday featuring newly crowned 11-year-old Rose Queen Grace Pye and her retinue alongside queens from nearby parishes, including Gartstang, Calder Vale, Nateby, and Catterall.
Some great fancy dress outfits were on show thanks to the Forton Toddler Group and their ‘Forton Toddlers on Safari’ outfits, ranging from tigers and zebras to wildlife spotters and ‘dangerous’ caged wild animals. Youngsters Bella and
Sophie Davey went dressed up as the Queen of Hearts and the Cheshire Cat from children’s favourite Alice in Wonderland.
Joy Oliver from the field day said: “It was a brilliant day, absolutely red hot.”
A spokesman added: “Thanks to all the people that organised it and everyone who helped out on the day.”
