BARTON Grange Garden Centre has been named the best garden centre in the country.
Less than four years after opening, the family-run business, near Garstang, has scooped the much coveted Garden Centre of the Year Award from the Garden Centre Association (GCA), which recognises it as the best destination garden centre in the UK.
The announcement was made at the annual GCA conference in Oxfordshire last week.
Barton Grange also won the Ruxley Rose Award, for the best plant area in the UK.
Barton Grange also won the award for having the best people, the best indoor living department and the best Farm Shop. They were joint winners of the catering award and were presented with their award for the Best Christmas Displays.
“It’s quite overwhelming”, said Guy Topping, MD of the company at the awards ceremony.
“I am indebted to my wonderful team who all contribute so much to making the garden centre what it is.
“We are all delighted.”
The garden centre opened in March 2008, having moved from its old premises next to the Barton Grange Hotel in Barton.
It has a covered outdoor area to enable all-weather plant shopping, two restaurants and a Farm Shop.
In 2009, it opened the Cook Shop, which also picked up a number of awards in 2011.
