A Garstang woman has spoken of her delight at qualifying for the Miss England competition.
Stephanie Leeson, 21, was the runner up in last year’s Miss Preston competition and this year scooped the Preston title.
Stephanie, a bra specialist at Victoria’s Secret in the Trafford Centre, will now represent Preston at the Miss England Semi Finals in May 2014.
It capped a great month for Stephanie after her boyfriend proposed to her in a hot air balloon while they were on holiday in Florida a few weeks ago.
The former Garstang High School and Cardinal Newman College pupil said she was overwhelmed to win.
She said: “I was so excited, I don’t really know what was going through my mind. I was shocked.
“I was runner up at Miss Preston Guild and I just thought I’m not giving up.
“When you come second you feel sometimes more gutted than if you come third, because you’re so close.
“I have really enjoyed the last few weeks.
“Everyone keeps saying how lucky I am.”
Faye Butler from Lytham, took second place and Olivia Parry from Chorley, was third
Molly Hilton, 15 from Hesketh Bank, near Preston, won Junior Miss Preston the category for 13-16 year olds.
All the girls had taken part in an interview and activity day, raised money for Variety, the Children’s Charity as well as take part in the catwalk show.
Head judge for Miss Preston, Kerry Capoverde, who had looked after the girls at both events said: “It was such a hard choice this year.
“All the girls were a credit to themselves and their families
“I love the fact that the girls had such a great time that most have them have applied for next year’s Miss Preston already.
“I think the audience loved it too, they were certainly the noisiest we’ve experienced in a long time.”
