Residents across Wyre are being encouraged to sign up to a crime-busting message scheme aimed at keeping people In the Know.
The free service, which is being run by Lancashire Constabulary, allows residents to receive speedy information from the police about matters ranging from suspicious behaviour, local crime issues and missing people to that about the constabulary’s various Watch schemes including Neighbourhood Watch and Farmwatch.
More than 6,000 people are signed up to the scheme, which has been running for over a year.
Sgt Chris Brooks, who co-ordinates the scheme, said: “People can specify the type of information they want to receive.
“For instance, rural residents may only be interested in crimes affecting the farming community, or business owners may only want to know about any crimes which have been committed on the nearby industrial estates.
“Alternatively, people may just want to know about crimes affecting their local neighbourhood.”
