Saturday marks the Golden Wedding of two well known Garstang residents - Doctor Tony and Mrs Christine Hindle of Green Lane East.
They were married at Whalley Parish Church on April 6th 1963. After a time in Loughborough, they moved first to Forton, then Scorton, and then to their present home in Cabus.
Tony joined the lecturing staff of Lancaster University in its early days and on retirement had reached the post of senior lecturer in Business and Management Studies.
He is still a visiting professor at Warwick University.
He is renownedfor his acting and production skills, with Glog and The Gadabouts in particular.
As a committee member, chairman and one time president of Garstang Wine Circle he spearheaded this local society for well over a decade.
Christine trained as a nurse and worked at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and as a sister at the Garstang Cornmill Nursing Home, and for a time became matron there.
Their children Penny, Giles and Adam said: “We are so delighted for mum and dad on their golden wedding.
“They have done so much for us their children and their grandchildren.
“They also put so much into the social and cultural life of Garstang, and have so many friends.”
