Husband gets 10 years for attempted murder of wife

A MAN has been sentenced to ten years in prison after pleading guilty to the attempted murder of his wife at Preston Crown Court.

Andrew Castle, 61, of Holmefield Road, Knott End-on-sea appeared in court on Monday after pleading guilty to the offence on May 23.

The offence took place on Saturday, March 5, when police were called to the couples’ address on Holmefield Road. His wife, Margaret Castle, was found having been hit around the head with what is believed to be a kosh and she was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary to be treated for minor head injuries.

Mr Castle was also present at the address and was found in the back garden with self inflicted wounds. He was also treated at Royal Lancaster Infirmary before being arrested and charged with attempted murder.
