An ‘Italian’ coat salesman has aroused police suspicions.
Police say an elderly couple in their 80s were approached by a male in a dark coloured, large saloon car as they arrived home in Knott End on Friday at around noon.
He spoke with an Italian accent and first asked if they knew an Italian family in the area.
He then tried to sell them five new coats. Some were leather and a selection of men’s and ladies styles and he managed to talk his way into the hallway of the house.
Police say although he was not aggressive, he was persistent.
They want to know if anyone else had the same visitor.
He was described as being in his 50s, of small build, wearing glasses, and had light/blonde coloured hair.
Contact police if you saw him, or were offered these coats. Log number LC-20180406-1294.
