Budding bakers took some time out to learn more about Fairtrade at the first-ever kids club held at the town’s Fig Tree Visitor Centre.
Youngsters enjoyed an action packed morning of art and craft activities, organised by volunteers Joe and Jackie Gilmore.
The children, aged six to 11, iced and decorated buns with a Fairtrade theme and showed off their creative talents, incorporating the Fairtrade symbol into their artwork.
The session was the first in a series of Kids’ Clubs being run at the centre over the next three months. The next club will take place from 11am – 12.30pm on Saturday October 20, where children will take part in kite making.
Further events will be held on November 17 and December 15.
On the first Saturday of each month at the same times, there is an also a new Oware games club for adults and children.
Oware is a traditional African board game. It is easy to learn how to play, but takes years to master. This club is open to anyone over the age of 7 years.
