Chief executive of The Fire Fighters Charity, Dr Jill Tolfrey, said: “Dave’s award is thoroughly deserved. As a volunteer Station Rep at Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters, Dave works tirelessly to organise an array of fund-raising events each year, as well as taking on some impressive personal challenges. He has run the London Marathon, kayaked from Preston to Lancaster and set up his own series of 10KM races. Dave also works hard to raise awareness of the charity amongst his colleagues, helping others to access services when they need support. Dave is a fantastic ambassador for The Fire Fighters Charity, which has celebrated its 75th anniversary.”

The Fire Fighters Charity’s Spirit of Fire Awards, hosted by BBC newsreader Nicholas Owen, recognises the dedication of firefighters and fire and rescue service personnel from the UK.
