Over the past four years local historian Paul G Smith has given various lectures about the Great War, including the local aspect (based on the names of Garstang’s fallen on the war memorial), as well as national and international aspects of the conflict.

Sunday, November 11 will see the final day of the commemorations, a century to the day when the war was formally ended.

To mark this occasion Paul is to give his final two-part lecture of the Great War series with a talk entitled: ‘Victory 1918 - how the Allies Won the War’.

It includes references to several local servicemen who died for their country.

The event will start at 7.30pm at the new St Thomas’ Parish Hall, Church St, Garstang.

Tickets priced £5 will go on sale at Market Place News.
