Longridge firm wins building quality award

Longridge firm Walter Carefoot and Sons (Construction) Ltd has won a top Wyre Council award for building quality.

Carefoot, which won the commercial category, was the company behind the recent building of the £2million sports hall at Garstang High School.

The centre, in use for both school and community sporting activities, has been praised for both its design and eco-friendliness.

The award was received by Barry Openshaw of Carefoot.

Wyre’s judges said: “The high quality is evident both internally and externally.”

Other winners included: M Richardson Builders, for an extension at Wexford House, Wyre Lane, Garstang, and M Fairclough Building Ltd, for barn conversion at Overdale, Nateby Crossing Lane, Nateby.

The prizes were presented by the Mayor of Wyre, Coun Russell Forsyth, and his wife, Christine. Also present at the ceremony was Wyre cabinet member Coun Barry Birch, whose portfolio includes building control.
