Businesses in Garstang are uniting to keep the High Street thriving by encouraging people to ‘shop local.’

Independent Garstang Traders (Garstang and District Chamber of Trade) has launched a Love Garstang Loyalty Card.

Launched at Garstang Show on Saturday, the scheme works by a stamp being collected on the every time £5 or more is spent in one of the participating shops and businesses.

Once full, the card will be entered into a quarterly draw to win £50 of Love Garstang gift vouchers, which can then be spent back in one of the participating shops.
Shoppers can then pick up a new card and carry on collecting.

Kate Pollard, the newly appointed Independent Garstang Traders events, social media and memberships co-ordinator, said: “The card was really well received at Garstang Show, with shoppers and businesses alike excited at the new scheme to encourage customers to shop local and support their local, independent shops and businesses.

“To get your hands on a loyalty card simply visit one of the participating shops or businesses from Saturday August 12, where you can not only pick up your card, but a list of all the retailers involved.
"It is a long term, town wide scheme which brings many of our members businesses together in a town loyalty scheme.

"This is a huge thing for the independent traders in our town of Garstang, who are working together to keep trade on the high street and with smaller independent businesses and services. "And it is big news for our town’s shoppers who now have the chance of winning the quarterly draw by shopping in many of our unique shops and services."

Businesses involved in the scheme will be displaying a new ‘Love Garstang’ window sticker to show that they are a participating retailer.
