Supporters of Garstang’s Memory café are making ‘time for a cuppa’ and inviting people to help raise funds for dementia patients and their families with a special event on March 2.
Care manager Michelle Thompson and staff from Home Instead of Blackpool and Wyre are hosting the coffee morning and workshop next Wednesday from 10am to raise awareness and offer advice.
The ‘Dementia UK Time for a Cuppa’ campaign runs from March 1 to 8 and is to raise money to help families facing dementia through specialist admiral nurses
Michelle said: “We are also running a free dementia workshop where we offer free advice and support for anyone affected by dementia.
“I also think it will be a great way to support the dementia café at Garstang and let people know about it who may not already do so”
The dementia cafe was launched by Lancashire County Councillor for Garstang Sandra Perkins in 2014. Her late husband Alan suffered with dementia.
She said: “The idea is that carers and those living with dementia (we don’t say suffering from) will come along for a coffee and a chat.
It will be a chance for carers to meet others in a similar situation and make friends.
The café is held on the first Wednesday of each month from 10am to noon at Garstang Library and for more information on the meetings go to www.timeforacuppa.org
