The new mayor for the Wyre Council, Terry Lees, visited John Cross CE Primary school at Bilsborrow, for his first official appointment since taking up the post.
He was there to cut the ribbon and open the school’s new Early Years outdoor area and attend an open afternoon.
His visit began with meeting the staff, governors and children and then having a fish and chip picnic lunch with the children on the school field.
Parents sent donations in to school for the lunch, with all proceeds going towards purchasing a defibrillator for Bilsborrow village.
The mayor then played ‘shopkeeper’ before Myerscough tutors and students from the Arborist department at Myerscough college carried out tree climbing demonstrations as the children watched on.
