More misery for train passengers as work on Farnworth Tunnel is delayed until December
Network rail engineers are enlarging the Farnworth Tunnel but due to exceptionally poor ground conditions, work which was due to finish on October 4 will now run until possibly December.
The delay means rail passengers at Bolton, Preston, Blackpool and Clitheroe could see reduced timetables travelling towards Manchester.

There are plans to lengthen platforms along the route to allow trains with more carriages to run during the work.
