MP Eric Ollerenshaw is calling on aspiring directors and writers in the Over Wyre area to take part in a national amateur film competition.
Nominations are now open for Film the House, launched by MP Mike Weatherley and supported by the British film industry.
The competition has been designed to help raise the profile of unsigned film makers and give them a platform for their work.
Amateur film producers, directors and scriptwriters can submit their work in a variety of genres including drama, thriller, action, comedy, music video, documentary, as well as a separate category for the under 18s
Mr Ollerenshaw, who represents the Lancaster and Fleetwood seat, will nominate his top film from the area for the national competition, which aims to also raise awareness of the importance of intellectual property rights, film and the creative industries.
He said: “Film the House is a great opportunity for aspiring film makers of any age looking to find a way into the industry. I am excited to see the films that the people of the area can come up with, and hope to see as many submissions from the area as possible.”
The winning film will be given a special screening to film industry executives at the House of Commons.
The closing date for nominations is June 30 and the winners will be announced on the October 30 at a special reception. For more information on how to apply visit www.filmthehouse.com
