New bistro bar set for Garstang high street
A former florist’s shop is being given an overhaul to turn it into a new bistro bar on Garstang’s Market Place.
The property, which has also been a butcher’s, has been empty for several years but is now set to be given a much anticipated face lift.
Business partners Caroline and Chris Tomlinson, who have been in the catering business for more than 30 years, have spent the past five and a half years running the popular Glasson Dock cafe Lantern O’er Lune on Tithebarn Hill.
But now the couple, alongside Caroline’s sister Lisa Bowker, are swapping Glasson for Garstang and coffees for cocktails and shaking things up with their new plans.
Caroline, 53, said: “We live in Garstang and we thought that the area was lacking a casual dining type restaurant.
“We have got a lot of building work to do as the site has been empty for a considerable amount of years, but we hope to bring a good quality service to Garstang.”
The property will have three office suites to rent on the first floor, while the ground floor will be ‘Cobblers’ bistro and bar which will cater for up to 60 people and be open from 9am until 9pm.
Caroline said: “The population of Garstang is expanding and we think it was lacking a cocktail bar/bistro. It is going to have a northern industrial heritage theme, which will fit well with the style of the building and we are going to do various themed evenings.
“We’re also looking in to doing an after-school child friendly menu.” Cobblers is set to open in May.
