A NEW pub could rise from the ashes of the fire damanged Wardley’s Hotel, Wardley’s Lane, Hambleton.
Owner of the building Mr Terry Pederson has lodged a planning application with Wyre Council for a new public house/hotel and living accommodation on the riverside site.
The building was severely damanged by fire two years ago.
His planning agents have told Wyre Council a study by English Heritage shows that “whilst old, the building does not warrant retention and can be demolished without loss of heritage.”
As reported in The Courier earlier this month, Mr Pederson has also lodged an application for a house, cottage and cafe on the site.
His latest application by Wyre Council soon.
A statement accompanying the planning application says the building in its current form is now possibly beyond economic repair and reinstatement to its original form.
It adds all commercial uses attempted over the previous 20 years had suffered from the expense of upgrading the deteriorating building.
