The Hayley Gallagher column

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been the kind of girl who chooses to sit back and listen to others talking about themselves rather than holding the power of the room myself, especially with people I’ve just met or barely know.

I am naturally quite shy at first.

Don’t get me wrong, I can be very vocal, love to get involved giving my opinions in all aspects of conversations and debates - maybe a little too much in fact! I just don’t enjoy speaking about myself.

So naturally when I was asked to write an introductory column about myself, it filled me with dread and fear.

In my eyes there is nothing more unattractive than blowing one’s own trumpet, but at the same time being too modest may give the impression of self confidence issues.

None of which I aim to do, although admittedly, I am my own biggest critic.

So in a nutshell...

My name is Hayley Gallagher and I am 34 years old. I am a busy wife to Paul and mother to Madison 12, Ava four, Rocco three, and angel baby Luca.

Since leaving school and college I have taken many different career paths from training as a make-up artist in London, an insurance advisor, running a successful salon for many years to writing for beauty and lifestyle magazines to name a few, alongside studying journalism at university.

I’ve also moved around the country supporting my husband’s football career as well as bringing up three children.

Who says footballers’ wives don’t work? Well that is a whole different column!

Besides organising my husband, children, running a hectic home and a newly acquired taste for gin.

I love fashion and I regularly blog to share and explore my interests and loves and to express my views and opinions, particularly on fashion, beauty and popular culture.

I also love to travel and explore new countries, cultures and surroundings.

I am a complete foodie and will try absolutely anything. Actually there are not many things I dislike.

I love spending my time with my family and will always make time for true friends.

I currently volunteer for The Baby Beat Appeal, a local community charity close to my heart and am busy in the process of fine tuning final arrangements for a ball that Paul and I are hosting in March to raise money for such a fantastic cause.

I love to see people doing well for themselves and will always be the biggest cheerleader and praise and compliment people.

Bitterness and jealousy is ugly.

I dislike dishonest people, people with poor hygiene and people that upload sly quotes on social media.

I tend to avoid inebriated people, people wearing animal fleeces and public toilets.

I have a passion for writing which almost matches my love for fashion, so when asked to write a regular column I immediately accepted.

I aim to write my column as a reflection of my personality offering humour, opinion and also including some of my life instances and passions.

I am looking forward to getting started!
