This year is the 201st event in the market town, with exhibitors, judges and visitors travelling from all over the country for the show, one of the biggest on the rural calendar in the north west.
And long time experienced horse rider, competitor, judge and Garstang Show committee member Rosalind Hargreaves this year takes up the reins as president, a role she says she is ‘honoured’ to receive.
Ros, who took over the running of the light horse section in 1998 from Mark Flatman says: “I look forward to my two years in office, and hope to meet all exhibitors and people who have contributed to the continued success of the show.”
Quad Bike stunt group Adrenaline Tour is set to wow the crowds with their display of freestyle jumping, while in the children’s tent Cbeebies presenter Rebecca Keatley, and best selling children’s musician Mr Yipadee perform in the Super Hero Hoe-down.
The animal tents will be open to viewing with everything from budgies, pidgeons and poultry to rabbits, dogs and goats, cattle, sheep and horses.
Chairman Dave Hewitt said the show, is a key component of rural life, highlighting the farming year and a great
social occasion for all involved.
He added: “We look forward to welcoming families attending the show, we work hard to ensure everyone goes home with a smile on their face after a great day out.”
