Following the death of Prince Philip on Friday aged 99, we decided to take a look at some of the activities across the county down the years.
5. Burnley FC's Community Sports Trust
2009: SOME of the young people who have completed their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme through the Community Sports Trust at Burnley FC.
6. Air cadets in Leyland
1998: Caring young people put their best feet forward when they stepped in to help look after elderly pensioners. Ten air cadets have been visiting residents at the Barrisle Nursing Home in Leyland, every Saturday for seven weeks. The group has been entertaining the pensioners, taking them for walks and helping with their daily care. It is part of the community service category for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
7. South Ribble teenagers
1983: Teenagers from South Ribble got together to celebrate their recent success in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. Thirty-six 15 to 18 year-olds were rewarded with bronze and silver badges for their achievements. The presentation ceremony was attended by members of the Leyland St Andrew's Campaigners, Balshaws High School, Leyland and individuals from all over the district
