A DRIVER is being hunted by police after a 16-year-old boy was hit by a car in Scorton.

The teenager was walking home along Gubberford Lane when he was struck by a passing silver blue 4x4.

The incident happened around 4.50pm on Wednesday January 4. The boy lost a tooth and suffered minor bruising.

The woman driver of the car did stop at the scene, but only for a few moments before asking a passer-by to take the boy home and then driving off without leaving any details.

Police are now appealing for witnesses in a bid to track down the driver.

PC Jason Colclough said: “Although the driver did stop at the scene, she didn’t leave her details and we would like to speak with her as we look to establish the circumstances surrounding this collision.

“If you were driving the car, or know who was, then please contact police. I would also like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision.”

Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
