Preston’s rural north policing team report an excellent response during a recent operation.

PC Chris Banks said they were particularly targeting poachers in the rural north area because of the problems being experienced in the Beacon Fell, Inglewhite and Bleadale areas.

He said they also targeted drink drivers and speeding motorists throughout ‘Operation Firecrest’ with more than 60 stop checks being made following high visibility patrols throughout the area.

One drink driver from Fulwood was arrested on the A6 at Broughton and one man was arrested on Beacon Fell for possession of cannabis, he said.

During the operation a ‘Day of Action’ was held at Broughton, during which free items such as shed, bike and window locks and key safes were given away and they were so pleased with this it is now hoped to get funding to cover another similar event at Goosnargh.

l Residents are being reminded of the numbers to contact police by.

If a crime is taking place at that moment, ring 999.

If you have been the victim of a crime or see someone acting suspiciously ring 101 and if you need to speak to anyone at Broughton ring 01772 863390 and leave a message and an officer will get back to you as soon as possible.
