Louie's mum Joanne said: "My son wanted to send Boris a picture when he was sick in hospital to make him. feel better. He did this on his own - no one told him to draw one. It was a picture of him and Boris and a rainbow. We popped it in the post and didn't think any more of it, then he received a card from him. My son was over the moon. He couldn't believe he got a reply.

"He wanted to draw a picture of a rainbow. He has been doing pictures of rainbows and thought rainbows make people better. He thought it might make Boris feel better and get better."

The Prime Minister's card said : "Thank you so much for the wonderful message and good wishes you sent me when I was unwell. The letters and cards I received really cheered me up."

Louie was just four when he made the special card. The reception class pupil usually attends Brabin's Endowed primary school in Chipping. While on lockdown he and his older brother Oliver, 10, have been creating their own Coronavirus time capsule, snipping out cuttings from the Lancashire Post each day to compile their own scrapbooks about the pandemic.
