A PILLING pub will open its doors as a fundraising hub for a year long charity campaign aimed at raising thousands of pounds for worthy causes.
Staff at the Golden Ball Hotel in Pilling are planning a series of events in support of landlord Billy Whiteside (pictured, above), who recently underwent major surgery to remove part of his kidney after being diagnosed with cancer.
Pilling parish councillor Billy, 57, has run the village pub for the past 11 years.
Proceeds from the events will go to helping cancer charities but events co-ordinator Rachelle Savage said the team are also looking to support other charity fundraisers.
Rachelle said: “We are mainly concentrating on cancer charities, but we are also very open to holding events for any local charities, and would allow our function suites to be used free of charge for charitable activities.”
The fundraising journey will begin with a ‘Vintage Easter Eggstravaganza’ in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, with all the family invited to indulge in good old fashioned fun!
This starts at the pub on Good Friday with a Charity Quiz at 8pm when teams of four or individuals are welcome.
On Saturday there is an Easter Egg Hunt for children from 1pm and an Easter Bingo at 8pm.
Then on Sunday everyone is invited along to decorate Easter eggs from 1-3pm and on Easter Monday there is an Easter Children’s Colouring Competition from noon.
Throughout the weekend there will also be a Marie Curie Wishing Tree for people to use.
