The team at The Punchbowl in Churchtown are celebrating this week after achieving the highest possible rating from Taste Lancashire.

And the pub has put the Taste Lancashire Highest Quality Assured accreditation down to its local suppliers with all of its products coming from Lancashire businesses.

Taste Lancashire Assessor, Jean Morrissey, said: “The Punchbowl Country Pub offers a very enjoyable experience in relaxed surroundings with professional and attentive staff which is balanced by warm Northern hospitality.

“Head chef Dale and the kitchen brigade clearly have a passion for food and inject imagination within their dishes and their presentation.

“The Punchbowl takes great pride in sourcing food from the locality whenever possible.

“This was a most enjoyable dinner and fully deserves the Taste Lancashire Highest Quality Assured accreditation.”

Andy Melville, general manager at The Punchbowl, said: “Achieving this award is just wonderful for the team here, especially after the floods just before Christmas when we had to close.

“Thanks to everyone’s hard work, the consistent quality of ingredients from our local suppliers, and the loyalty of our customers, we’ve come roaring back with a delicious new menu full of wholesome home cooked food at good prices.”
