Pub shuts for fourth time in 15 months
Enterprise Inns, which owns the Sir Tom Finney in Penwortham confirmed it was searching for a new publican after the landlord announced an intention to leave earlier this week.
The pub was listed as a venue for this weekend’s Penwortham Live! music festival, with organisers forced to make last-minute rearrangements for acts to play at the Anchor in Hutton.

Hide AdA spokesman from Ei Publican Partnerships said: “We can confirm that the current publican at the Sir Tom Finney, Penwortham, has told us of their intention to cease trading. We are now searching for a new publican to take on the site and aim to have the pub back open as soon as possible.”
The pub, on the junction of Central Drive and Birch Avenue, opened in March 1975.
In February last year it mysteriously closed, only to reopen a couple of days later. The landlord then left in early March, replaced by Martyn Driscoll and Liam Mills who left the Anchor. They stayed for four months.
