25-year-old trainee barrister Jack Jermy-Doyle from Preston was killed by Jake Parkinson, 22, and Jak Fairclough, 29, whilst returning home from a night out in the city centre on August 12.

Preston Crown Court heard how Jack was approached by Fairclough and Parkinson at around 2.30am, and after an exchange of words - seemingly without provocation - Parkinson punched Jack in his stomach.

Almost immediately after that, Fairclough punched him in the face which made Jack fall to the ground, leaving him with unsurvivable brain injuries which he died from on August 14.

Following the sentencing of Jack’s killers last week - in which Fairclough got six years and four months whilst Parkinson got eight years - Jack’s mother, Susan Haworth, has talked openly about the pain her family are living with and called for an end to needless violence.

Earlier this week, we shared two new images courtesy of Susan, which she had released to try and prevent further acts of needless violence: they depict both Susan and Jack’s girlfriend Kaitlyn Booth lying on the hospital bed with an unconscious Jack in his final hours.

The newly released images generated a huge outpour of messages from members of the public with the Facebook post receiving nearly 100 separate comments.
