Catterall Parish Council has installed a special gate to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War I.

A dedication service will be held a week on Sunday, August 31, at 2pm at the playing field in Garstang Road. The gate has been made by Austin Walmsley, of Green Lane, and Pilling Pottery is making a dedication plaque to be sunk into the ground in front of the gate.

The Duchy of Lancaster gave a £250 grant towards the cost of the project.
