It was a case of be of good cheer as Father Christmas faced the cold with good humour at Rotary’s annual charity Christmas collection in Garstang’s Cherestanc Square.
He was ably assisted by Rotarian Ian Simpson (pictured) as shoppers and passers by responded to the appeal by Garstang and Over Wyre Rotarians to boost funds to help good causes.
On Monday Father Christmas was set to make a tour of north Garstang and Cabus and on Tuesday evening he was due to enjoy a “drive” through south Garstang and Catterall....leaving him plenty of time to prepare to deliver all those presents on Christmas Eve.
In recent years the Rotary Club of Garstang and Over Wyre has, in addition to the Santa Sleigh in Garstang, organised duck racing down the river Wyre and classic car rallies, as well as collecting emergency funds for disaster appeals.
Funds raised have also helped finance annual brass band concerts for senior citizens, turkeys for the WRVS Christmas Dinner and supported local charities such as the Pat Seed Appeal, hospices and Croston House.
The Club meets each Wednesday at the Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club.
