M61 users warned to expect delays

Drivers heading into Manchester this morning are being warned to expect delays due to emergency road works on theÂ M61, says Highways England.

Traffic is currently queuing back to junction 5.

One lane has been closed on the southbound carriageway after junction 1 near to the junction of the M60 anti-clockwise.

Another lane has also been closed on the M60 anticlockwise between junctions 15 and 13.

A spokesman for Highways England said in a post to social media: "One lane is closed on the M61 southbound, after J1, as you exit M61 to join the M60 anti-clockwise.

"This is for manhole cover repairs. Expect delays this morning."

All lanes are expected to be closed through the morning rush-hour.

Traffic is currently queuing back to junction 5 on the M61.
