A village hall in Wyre could be knocked down to make way new homes – if new plans are given the green light.

An application has been submitted that would see Pilling Memorial Hall, on Taylor’s Lane, demolished and replaced by 25 affordable homes. The application also seeks permission to rebuild the hall, along with a car park and multi-use games area, on a nearby site once the necessary funds have been raised.

The plans state development would only go ahead if a Homes and Communities Agency funding bid for the money to build a replacement hall is successful.

The application adds: “The proposed replacement memorial hall and associated sport and leisure facilities provide improvements over existing and inadequate community facilities for Pilling.”

The multi-use games area would include a tennis court, full-size football pitch and a three quarter size junior football pitch. The plans also include a children’s play area and open space.

A supporting statement claims the existing hall “has now exceeded its useful life and has fallen into a state of disrepair”.
