Garstang traders have revealed plans for a major matrimony themed event which will transform the town for a week.
Local businesses are gearing up for an exclusive Wedding Week next month, backed by the Chamber of Trade and Independent Garstang Traders.
They say Garstang is already known by many couples tying the knot as ‘the one stop town’ for all their wedding requirements, but now there will be the chance to experience something completely different.
Wedding week starts on Monday, February 16, with shops showcasing what they promise will be amazing windows displays and special offers, with a main event, which will include the opportunity to learn ballroom dancing, on Sunday, February 22.
Jill Cross, spokesperson for Garstang’s Chamber of Trade said: “We are very excited about our first ever wedding event in Garstang as our town’s quality traders and wedding suppliers really do offer some unique products and services, with personal attention and years of experience.
“This is something really different, to have so much in one place with a relaxed and informal atmosphere.”
Bay Radio will be broadcasting its show live from the town on the Sunday.
Jill said: “The shops will be opened, filled with wedding suppliers from 10am to 3pm.
“Everything you can possibly imagine will be available on the Sunday from wedding dresses, flowers and honeymoons to photographers, singers and hog roasts.
“You can even learn how to ballroom dance!”
Highlights on the day include hair and make up demonstrations, a bridal dress show, a wedding hat and fascinator demo, wedding cake tasting, advice on honeymoon planning and wedding car test drives, plus a display of wedding dresses from times past.
