A new Battle of The Bands is set to showcase local musical talent.
Bands, musicians and performers across Wyre, Blackpool and the Fylde coast are invited to compete at Fleetwood Riffs, a branch new contest due to take place at Fleetwood’s Marine Hall on March 28.
Musical artists will get the chance to perform on stage and compete for a share of the £1500 cash prize fund.
There will be three categories to enter: young bands age 12 to 17, soloists and duos and a final category for established groups, well known on the local music circuit.
A family disco and entertainment will run between the afternoon and evening sessions of the contest.
Chris Wyatt, Arts and Events Development Officer at Wyre Council, said: “Fleetwood Riffs launches for me, a firm commitment to developing youth music in Wyre, which will use a variety of venues both indoors and outdoors.”
Applications to compete must be in February 14. To find out more and to apply visit www.marinehall.co.uk/fleetwoodriffs.
Tickets to watch the event cost £5 each and can be booked by calling 01253 887693.
Chris added: “It’s important we provide opportunities for local Fylde talent to showcase their work in a competitive yet friendly and supportive setting. This event provides a platform, especially for the younger bands, to have experience of performing in a great venue like Marine Hall and potentially to the biggest audience they have ever played to.”
The landmark Marine Hall celebrates its 80th birthday this year.
