A FORMER Myerscough College student Anthony Pilkington has signed for Premier League new boys Norwich City in a deal thought to be worth around £2m.
The 23-year-old, from Darwen, will become the first player from the College’s Football Development Centre to play in the Premier League when the 2011-12 season starts.
The college’s Football Development Centre manager, Phil Brown, said: “This is fantastic news for Anthony and for everyone involved in the centre. It shows we are clearly doing the right things in helping young players reach their potential.”
Anthony, who can play on either wing or as a forward, is one of the College’s greatest successes after studying on both the National Diploma in Football Studies and the Foundation Degree in Football Coaching during his time at Myerscough.
He signed a professional contract with Stockport in 2007 before moving to Huddersfield Town in 2009.
Speaking about his new challenge, Anthony (right) said: “When you’re a boy you dream of playing in the Premier League.”
