GARSTANG teenage twins Scott and Jack Gardner made their rally debut when they competed in Blackpool South Shore Motor Club’s Roskirk Stages at Wigan’s Three Sisters race circuit.

The 18-year-olds are both former students at Garstang High School and Myerscough College, where they completed a two-year motorsport course.

The brothers contested the rally’s Formula 1000 category in a Nissan Micra, and soon overcame their early nerves to set some confidence boosting quick stage times.

The car didn’t miss a beat, needing nothing more than fuel between stages, and the twins finished the event a commendable 11th in class.

The twins’ father, Andy, and his brother John are experienced rally competitors, and both were on hand to lend support and advice.

Andy said: “I got my brother John to supervise Jack with all the issues the navigator has to deal with, and he did a great jo,b as Jack had no problems all day.

“I did the same for Scott from a driver’s point. We all thought the rally was well organised and well run, and an ideal first event for anyone wanting to get into rallying.”
