Garstang manager Lee Baker has pulled off a major coup with the double signing of brothers Richard and Alan Coar for the new season.

Both brothers played for Garstang when they last won the West Lancashire Premier League in the 2007/08 season.

As a result, their return gives a massive boost to the club ahead of the players’ return to pre-season training towards the end of the month.

Rick said: “Having played with Lee (Baker) it was an easy decision for me when he asked me to return to Garstang.

“I am really looking forward to getting started.”

Alan added “The chance of playing with my brother was too good to pass up.

“I am fitter than I’ve been for some time and I’ve not been so excited about a new season for a long time.”

“Garstang have great local support and get good numbers down to games which was also a factor in my decision to sign.”

Chairman, Adrian Wilding, who went to meet the lads last week, could barely contain his excitement at their return to the club.

He said “They are both big, strong, old fashioned centre-forwards who have scored goals wherever they have played.”

“They are really good, honest, down to earth lads who are going to be great both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

“I, for one, can’t wait to see them in a Garstang shirt again.”

Garstang has also confirmed that the club will play in the West Lancashire League’s pre-season opener against Blackpool Wren Rovers for The Wilf Carr Memorial Cup, which they won in 2008/09.

The date and location of the match is expected to be officially confirmed later in the week.
