Garstang FC boss Lee Baker is happy enough with the way his players have started the new West Lancashire League season.
The Riversiders had posted a win, a draw and a defeat from their opening three games before Tuesday night’s trip to Burscough Richmond as the Courier went to press.
After a 3-0 loss to Haslingden St Marys on the opening day, the Riversiders rallied to beat Coppull United by the same score before drawing 1-1 with Blackpool Wren Rovers last Saturday.
“We’ve kind of written off the first game because we had nine players missing for one reason or another,” Baker said.
“Any team at any level would struggle with that number of players missing but they took their chances, we ended up pushing for an equaliser and ended up losing by three.
“I was happy with the win against Coppull but I was more delighted with the performance against Wrens.
“I really felt we did look more solid and it was a performance that was taking us back to where I wanted us to be this season.”
